We've been coaching junior basketballers in Brisbane's south-west since 1997 — beginners through to representative players, girls and boys, age 6 to the end of high school.

About the club

Run by volunteers, built for kids

Sunnybank Hills Hurricanes Basketball Club Inc. was founded in 1997 as one of three founding clubs of the South West Metro Basketball Association.

We now have more than 170 team members, with a number of our players in the Brisbane Bullets Big Shots training program. We've grown year on year as basketball has grown in popularity.

We take training seriously — there are several avenues for players to develop and sharpen their skills, from first-timers to representative level.

We play through the Optus Junior Club Competition in partnership with Southwest Metro Pirates, where our athletes get fair, positive competition and families get properly involved.

Fees & payment

What a season costs

Club and SWM fees are payable each season — there are two seasons a year. Basketball QLD and Basketball Australia fees are annual. Everything is paid through Basketball Connect when you register.

When your team trains

Days and times stay mostly the same season to season, with minor variations between teams.

The schedule below is confirmed after trials, once teams are decided. Times can change with venue and coach availability or rep clashes, and divisions may shift during grading. Check the official schedule

Uniform pick-up happens at training in week 2. New players need club shorts, with fittings on the first training day. All age groups wear club shorts and jersey, apart from U8 who can wear black shorts.
